The kidneys maintain a stable balance of salts and other substances in the blood. It sends out the unwanted and toxic and waste products of our body activity (metabolism) through urine. The ureters carry the urine from the kidneys to the bladder. The bladder holds the urine until urination, where the urethra carries urine from the bladder out of the body.
